Opening Times: Accessible 24/7 (best viewed between sunrise and 2:00 PM before afternoon clouds roll in).

  • Kintamani Area Retribution Fee: IDR 50,000 per vehicle/visitor entering the Kintamani district.

Nestled inside the massive caldera of Mount Batur, Lake Batur is considered sacred by the Balinese as the primary life-giving water source for the island's rivers and subterranean springs. As an integral part of the UNESCO-recognized cultural landscape, the lake acts as the natural reservoir that feeds the entire Subak irrigation grid across central Bali. Panoramic viewstops along the Kintamani rim provide vistas over the dark volcanic lake waters and surrounding lava fields.
