Built in 1634 as the mother temple of the Mengwi Kingdom, Pura Taman Ayun is considered one of Bali’s most architecturally elegant temples. The inner complex is completely encircled by a wide, lotus-filled moat, giving the appearance of a garden sanctuary adrift on water. Designed with flat, easy walking paths and manicured lawns, it offers a peaceful, less-crowded alternative to heavy tourist hubs while showcasing classic Balinese architecture.
